To say Google is one of our best friends wouldn't really be an exaggeration. Just think about it: Every time we have an issue, inquiry, or desire, it's almost always second nature now to just, Google it. For beauty buffs like us, we find ourselves regularly searching everything, including skin-care regimens, hair trends, makeup hacks, and even self-care tips. So, when Google reached out and shared its top trending topics from 2018 across the board — including our favourite subject, beauty — we had to share the search wealth.
No surprise here, people were really obsessed with all things eyelashes this year. "How to apply magnetic lashes" was the top-searched question of the year (which is fair considering how difficult they are to apply) with "what is a lash lift" ringing in at No. 2.
People also wanted to know how to remove individual lashes, which you can check out in this handy guide to falsies. In regards to hair, the most-searched phrase was "what hair colour looks best on me?" If you're not sure where to start, we've got you covered. And, as far as skin care is concerned, folks were curious how you can remove makeup without a wipe (hint: double cleansing helps) and how you should apply aloe vera.
Additional trending makeup topics included "how to do a cat eye," "how to fix cakey makeup," and "how to glue down eyebrows" — the latter of which we wouldn't recommend unless that is, you're using a traditional [brow gel]. And naturally, almost everyone wanted to know which concealer to use. Here are just a few favourites we would recommend you purchase immediately, if not sooner.
The year is quickly coming to a close, which only naturally makes us wonder: What beauty topics will be relevant and highly searched in 2019? Will people still care about concealer? (Yes.) Will people still be concerned with attaining the perfect Instagram Brow? (Perhaps.) Time will only tell.
