Ultimate makeup hacks that will save you time, money and space

From buying new makeup products on the market to restocking the ones we’ve run out of, makeup can be on the pricey side especially when we’re on a budget. When travelling, we want to bring every makeup product along just to avoid any inconveniences. Surprisingly, there are a number of makeup products that can do the same thing. Save time, money and space in your makeup bag with these ultimate makeup hacks.

Blush

What’s a makeup look without blush? We usually use blush on our cheeks to give ourselves a rosy and vibrant finish. The product is usually applied on the apple of your cheeks and blended upwards toward your temple, while giving you that lifted look. Although blush is used to enhance our cheeks, it is not limited to that. Whatever colour blush you own, whether its pink, red, or burnt orange, it can also be used as an eyeshadow and lip product by simply applying it to those areas.

Lip liner, eyebrow pencil and eye liner

This interchangeable trio is used to enhance certain features. Ordinarily we use lipliner to define the shape of our lips, eyebrow pencil to define and fill in our eyebrows, and eyeliner to make our eyes pop. As soon as one of these products run out, we immediately purchase a new one. But why do that when you can use one of these for your eyes, lips, and eyebrows. You might find that an eyebrow pencil works better as a lipliner than an actual lipliner.

Lipstick

Just like blush, we don’t really think to use lipstick for anything else but our lips. If you don’t have blush on hand or you want to try wearing blush for the first time, but don’t want to buy one just yet, you can simply use your lipstick. Choose a creamy lipstick and dab a small amount on the back of your hand. Using a makeup brush or your finger as an applicator, apply and blend the lipstick like you would blush. You also have the option of using lipstick as an eyeshadow by simply applying it to your eyelids. Voila! A 3-in-1 product you didn’t know you had.

Foundation

The primary use of foundation is to even out skin tone and acts as a base for the rest of our makeup, hence the name “foundation”. However, this product can be quite versatile. Did you know you can use your foundation as concealer, contour, and eyeshadow base? If you’re not in the mood to wear a full face of makeup, simply use your foundation as concealer to cover up blemishes or uneven skin tones. For a contouring effect, use a darker foundation shade. You also have the option of using it as an eyeshadow base to make your eyeshadow last longer.

Concealer

Concealer is probably the most versatile makeup product you can own as it can be used more than just covering up your blemishes and concealing your dark under eyes. With a shade lighter than your skin tone, you can use concealer for highlighting certain parts of your face like the bridge of your nose, you can use it to brighten certain parts of your face like under the eyes (bright undereye look) and around the mouth. For those who prefer doing their eyebrows and calling it a day, you can use a shade that matches your skin tone to clean up around the brow for a more defined and polished look.
