There’s a new beauty trend in town and it’s called ‘Igari makeup.’ Also known as 'hangover makeup,' this look focuses on creating a soft flushed finish, giving the appearance of a chic post-night-out look. Obviously, nobody wants to look hungover so this makeup look is all about harnessing that look with a cleaner, fresher overall complexion. Here’s how you can achieve the look.
Originating from Japan, Igari makeup is characterised by its youthful, flushed appearance. The trend focuses on creating a slightly rosy, under-the-eyes blush that mimics the natural flush of the skin after a day in the sun, post-workout or the morning after a great night out.
How to recreate Igari makeup
Prep the Skin: Good skin prep is essential for any makeup look. Start by reaching for a water-based cleanser followed by a hydrating serum and moisturiser to ensure your skin is ready for the following steps.
Base Makeup: Apply a light layer of your favourite foundation or BB cream. This light coverage will help you achieve a natural finish.
Blush Placement: Blush placement is everything in this makeup look. Cream or liquid blush is essential for the Igari makeup look, as it will allow you to build your blush up as you go. Apply your blush just under the eyes and across the cheeks, blending it outwards towards the temples. Your blush should be visible but not too intense. Use powder blush to soften and harsh edges.
Eyes and Lips: As the flushed look is the star of the show, you need to keep your eyes and lips as simple as possible. You can do this by simply using the same blush brush and sweep it over your eyelids. For your lips, lightly apply a hydrating lip balm or lipgloss for a shiny pout.
Finishing Touches: To maintain the dewy finish throughout the day, lightly dust over a gentle powder across the T-zone, avoiding the cheeks to keep the glow intact.
