3 Easy ways to refresh your knotless braids

If you think it’s time to remove your knotless braids, hold that thought. Knotless braids can be a bit pricey depending on the hairstylist, and tend to get frizzier a lot quicker than regular braids. So if you’re not ready to let go of the protective style just yet, here are three easy ways to refresh your knotless braids.

Rebraiding

If you haven’t mastered the technique of braiding your own hair, for this method you will need the assistance of someone who has.

Depending on which section of your head you want to refresh, you will simply undo the braids in the front and/or back of your head - most people typically undo the front - to make way for a new set of braids. Once the fresh braiding is complete, you can use hair mousse to tame flyaways and finish off the look by laying your edges with some edge gel.

Retwisting

To help remove any product and/or scalp build up, simply start by washing your braids how you would usually wash your hair. If you’re not in the mood for the shampoo and water method, alternatively use a waterless cleanser for braids.

Once you have a clean and fresh scalp, you will need hair gel to retwist your braids. Simply apply a small amount of gel to each desired braid, and retwist. After retwisting, apply a generous amount of hair mousse across your head and lay your edges for a finishing touch.

Crochet Method

It’s not as complicated as it sounds. All you will need is some gel and a crochet hook. You can do this yourself or get someone to assist you.

You will simply take your crochet hook and slide it underneath the start of your braid and pulling it through as demonstrated by TikToker Kinzey Rae (@knzyrae). This process is done to all desired braided sections. Again, using mousse and/or edge gel will add a finishing touch.
