How to make the perfect Long Island Ice Tea

What is one of the best ways to beat the heat this summer? Simple. Kick back and sip on a refreshing Long Island Ice Tea.

As you must know, the Long Island Ice Tea is   an indisputable classic! It’s also one the sexiest drinks around. While the words ‘ice tea’ might fool some, know that it’s a deceptively powerful concoction with a whole lot of charm.

There are some disputes over the origins of the drink. Some claim that it was invented in the prohibition age and actually comes from Long Island, Kingsport Tennessee. The most widely held belief, however, is that it was created by Robert ‘Rosebud’ Butt at the Oak Beach Inn on Long Island NY. Regardless, the drink was exceptionally popular in the disco age of the 1970s and amongst students who wanted more bang for their buck. The drink is always served in a highball and comes in a number of exciting variations, including ice teas by the names of ‘Tokyo’, ‘Texas’ and ‘Georgia’.

To make your own you’ll need a few more provisions than what you’re used to keeping in your bar, but at least you’ll be stocked for summer. And rest assured, the Long Island Ice Tea is always a big hit at parties.
