It’s only the 2nd month of 2023 and we’re already seeing a new colour trend all over our social media feeds usurping the “Valentino” pink that dominated the whole of 2022. Red seems to be taking over the streets and the catwalks. And who can forget Doja Cat in literal head to toe red at the Schiaparelli Haute Couture show a few weeks ago?
NYFW just ended with a host of designers like Naeem Khan, Prabal Gurung and Jason Wu to name a few, who’ve included this colour of passion into their collections. This standout hue was also the theme of the SA Style Awards (Uber Glam- Dare to be Red) recently. Our local celebrities delivered and served some exciting red carpet looks. Undoubtedly the most notable event was Rihanna at the Super Bowl wearing custom Loewe and Alaia in red.
Red has always been described as the colour of passion and in colour psychology, red is the most intense colour. And thus, can provoke the strongest emotions. Wear this colour trend this year as a motivator to keep pursuing your dreams with passion.
