So what does Jennifer Lawrence do in-between takes on a film set? She reads classic novels. And Jennifer’s choice of ‘favourite’ book might come as a surprise (even to her!)… Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy. “I really wasn’t expecting to like it. I thought I wouldn’t want to finish an 800-page book, but then I started slowing down and reading the same chapters over and over. You fall in love with the characters; you grow up with them,” says Jennifer.
While reading the book, her Silver Linings Playbook director David O. Russell reportedly spoiled a major literary plot point for the starlet while they were filming the 2012 hit.
“She’s walking around the set all the time reading the Tolstoy novel Anna Karenina,” David recounted in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter. “Which is like a phone book. I was just impressed that this 20-year-old girl is reading Anna Karenina, from Kentucky, who likes to eat junk food, and watch Real Housewives of Long Island. She’s a down home girl and she’s reading this book. I love it.”
