I tried an award-winning face oil for 7 days, here’s what happened

The Product:

Evening Primrose Oil, R409, Nikel Cosmetics ( at Zando)

Evening Primose Oil…few drops before your night cream or on its own…is all you need

The Hype:

Nikel Cosmetics describes itself as an award-winning Croatian beauty brand, that is created using carefully selected natural active ingredients, without any unnecessary additives. They also claim that their Evening Primrose Oil “restores the epidermis by retaining moisture in its deepest layers”, and leaves the skin hydrated, velvety soft and radiant.

Reviewer’s Skin Type:

I’ve always had combination to oily skin that is prone to acne breakouts if I don’t take care of it.

What I Usually Look For In A Face Oil:

I love face oils – especially marula oil, jojoba oil and raw shea butter. When on the lookout for a face oil, I opt for non-comedogenic oils that don’t clog pores. For example, I never use coconut oil on my skin as it is known to clog pores and cause breakouts on acne-prone and oily skin.

The Results:

After 7 days my pigmentation and scarring faded, and my breakouts subsided. On day 1, I applied it in the morning and evening, but it caused my skin to breakout. So, for the next 6 days, I only applied the oil at night, after removing my makeup.
