First time Emmy nominees: Issa Rae and Jessica Biel

The Emmy award nominations were announced yesterday, and two of our favourite actresses received their first nods.

Issa Rae from the hit HBO-produced show, Insecure , has finally been nominated for an Emmy in the Outstanding Actress in a Comedy category. Rae is going up against Pamela Adlon from“Better Things”, Rachel Brosnahan from“The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel”, Allison Janney from “Mom”, Tracee Ellis Ross from “black-ish”, as well as Lily Tomlin from“Grace and Frankie”.

I said I was gonna take a drinking hiatus, but due to unforeseen circumstances, I can’t. To watch so many of my heroes, peers and “peer-oes” get recognized for the last couple of years has been so rewarding and made me feel so optimistic about the direction of this industry. To be recognized among them now is such an honor. WE ARE JUST GETTING STARTED AND WE’RE GOING TO MAKE SURE WE’RE NOT GOING ANYWHERE. Thank you to my @InsecureHBO family, for making this possible. #Emmys

Jessica Biel also received her first Emmy nomination for her role in  The Sinner. She is joined alongside Laura Dern from “The Tale”, Michelle Dockery from “Godless”, Edie Falco from “Law & Order True Crime: The Menendez Murders”, Sarah Paulson from“American Horror Story: Cult”, and the talented Regina King who starred in “ Seven Seconds” who are all competing for Best Actress In A Limited Series or Movie category.

I’m so blown away by this Emmy nomination that I’m drinking alone. No shame in my champagne game! 🥂
