3 Reasons why Rouge is our new favourite SA rapper

Breakout star at this year’s South African Music Awards, female MC, Rouge had social media buzzing as she graced the SAMA 24 stage spitting bars from her hit track ‘Dololo’.

If you missed her Twitter-trending performance, take a look:

The Congolese-born beauty, whose real name is Deko Barbara-Jessica Wedi,  first got our attention in 2014, when she released her hit single ‘Party’.  Ever since then, we’ve been hooked on everything Wedi’s been serving us.

Here are the 3 reasons why Rouge is our new favourite South African rapper.

She can actually rap

Many MCs coming out these days, actually, don’t have ‘bars’! Ms Rouge is definitely not one of those rappers. The ‘No Strings’ rapper is a talented lyricist, who mixes bomb beats with hard-hitting rap verses.

She’s got some serious swag

Deko has attitude for days! This is evident in her music videos and IG pics.

She slays

Deko Barbara-Jessica Wedi knows how to serve looks. She slayed at the SAMAs in a chic coral ensemble designed by Keys Fashion, and if you follow her on IG you’ll know that she is the ultimate baddie.
