Five things to know about The Soil

In anticipation of this year’s jazz fest, we caught up with award-winning acapella group The Soil. If you’re a true fan, you probably all there is to know about the group’s members, but we bet you didn’t know these five things…

Number One:  What excites the group most about the local music scene is   the style sense that local artists pair with their music. “The story behind the music is not only in the songs but in their ‘statement-making outfits’ too,” said one of the group’s members.

Number Two: At the top of the group’s collaboration wishlist is  Simphiwe Dana. According to The Soil, the Jazz Afro Soul crooner is more than just a musician, “she is music”.

Number Three: They plan to release new music in the next three months. “New music and more new music,” is the band’s mantra.

Number Four: The group describes their fans as people who are in love with amazing music that heals the soul.

Number Five: Of their upcoming CTIJF performance, the group says that frequenters can expect “a more refined and matured sound from the very first song to the last.”
