Harry Styles sang a Taylor Swift song to a fan

Harry StylesFans of Harry Styles are reeling after the former One Direction member made a not so subtle reference to former partner Taylor Swift during a live performance.

The moment, which proved epic in more ways than one, occurred during a stop on the singer’s tour in Copenhagen, radio station Capital FM points out. During a brief musical interlude, Harry asked the crowd how they were doing. He took his time bantering with fans and struck up a conversation with one attendee in particular. The concert-goer identified as Thea on Twitter informed the singer it was her birthday. And after announcing that she was turning 22, Harry started belting out the beginning to one of Taylor’s most iconic songs, saying “I don’t know about you.”

Those in attendance at the show can be heard screaming loudly in the video, and social media has reacted accordingly with their own messages of support. “harry styles. singing 22. my goodness,” one fan tweeted. Another user also congratulated the singer on cracking them up, writing: “I’m not even ashamed to say that @Harry_Styles is the funniest person I know.”

Harry and Taylor briefly dated more than four years ago. Since the breakup, fans have long speculated which of their songs were about one another, but nothing was ever confirmed. But as Sophie Turner recently showed fans, “22” is the perfect birthday jam, and it makes sense that Harry would use a bit of the song to help make a concertgoer’s birthday extra special.

We’ll keep our fingers crossed that maybe Taylor will return the favour and cover one of Harry’s songs in the future.
