This easter egg in Taylor Swift’s new Instagram proves she’s still tight with Selena Gomez

2015 and 2016 were intense, very public years for Taylor Swift: She went on a massive tour and had famous beef with Kanye West, Katy Perry, and Calvin Harris. Around this time Swift also launched “squad” culture, which started out harmless but then turned slightly problematic. It didn’t take a rocket scientist to know which famous women were in Swift’s inner circle around this time, seeing as how she (and they) were always posting perfect photos together on beaches, at fashion shows, and even on stage at Swift’s  1989 world tour.

But Swift has since retreated from the spotlight. Save for the singer’s new album,  Reputation, we don’t know much about her anymore, including which squad members are still tight with her. In August 2017, following months of wild speculation, Swift quasi-confirmed her friendships with a few of the “squad” members when she wore a T-shirt in the “Look What You Made Me Do” video that included these names: Lena (Dunham), Gigi (Hadid), Martha (Hunt), Claire (Kislinger), Patrick (Stewart), Selena (Gomez), all three Haim sisters, Blake (Lively), Ryan (Reynolds), Ed (Sheeran), Todrick (Hall), and Abigail (Anderson). “Taylena” fans—the subset of Swift aficionados who love her friendship with Gomez—were thrilled about this.

But if that isn’t enough confirmation Gomez and Swift’s friendship is alive and well—even though they haven’t been spotted out together in almost two years— a new Instagram video post from Swift will do the trick. The clip, which Swift uploaded on Tuesday, shows her cats (Meredith Grey and Olivia Benson) hanging out by a fireplace and is captioned, “In this house, there is no correct or incorrect way to relax.” She pans back and forth between the two cats in the video, who are each reclined in different but hilarious ways. And right behind them near a fireplace sits a framed photo of her hugging Gomez. Yay, friendship!

In this house, there is no correct or incorrect way to relax.

Of course, there really wasn’t a reason for Taylena fans to be worried. Over the summer, Gomez left a similar Easter egg in her “Bad Liar” music video that implied the two pop stars are still pals. In one scene from the ’70s-inspired visual, Gomez dances around her bedroom, and on the wall behind her is a  Charlie’s Angels-esque poster featuring a blond who looks suspiciously similar to Swift. She also gave Swift, who she’s known for about a decade, a sweet shout-out back in December for her birthday. “I’m glad you were born. You write all the thoughts some aren’t able to articulate. (ME!) Thank you for giving a voice to this world that is authentic and inspiring. I wish some knew how big your heart actually is… it’s fierce, bold and freaking wild with light. I’m glad you protect that,” Gomez wrote on Instagram at the time. Insert heart emoji.
