Today in things you probably wish you could unsee, someone made a nail-art tribute to Kylie Jenner’s first picture of baby Stormi Webster. On paper, that doesn’t seem terribly scary. In fact, it sounds cute, even impressive. I mean, capturing the likeness of Kylie Jenner and the newest member of the Kardashian dynasty with nail polish has got to take some serious skill. Except it’s not just nail polish — it’s a full-on three-dimensional sculpture coming out of the nail.
If you’re having some trouble visualizing this, allow me to help. A week ago, Jenner posted a simple mommy-and-me pic that appears to be the only photograph of baby Stormi thus far. It features the newborn clutching Jenner’s thumbnail, her snoozing face visible in the background. The picture has since become the most liked picture on Instagram of all time, beating out even Beyoncé’s masterpiece of a birth announcement.
Sweet, simple, adorable — only somehow it’s the exact opposite when rendered in manicure form. Russian nail studio Nail Sunny’s tribute to this baby photo leaves out Stormi’s face, keeping only her tiny fingers clutching Jenner’s thumb, which itself is sculpted growing out of a nail. To break this down, that’s five nails on top of a nail on top of another nail. As if that weren’t enough, the nail studio also includes a video of the whole process, so you can see in detail how the mini-Stormi’s disembodied fingers move when the technician presses them down. And we thought that wild Valentine’s Day nail art was controversial — but it’s nothing compared to this look.
This isn’t the only nail-art tribute Nail Sunny has made to Kylie Jenner. Two weeks ago, the studio uploaded a tutorial for another 3-D Kylie likeness, this time showing her entire pregnant body in miniature. In January, it featured a design modelled after her famous lip kit, which was far less terrifying.
