This Hollywood actress will be replacing Meghan Markle in Suits

As soon as it was announced that both Meghan Markle and Patrick J. Adams were leaving Suits, we assumed the show was on its way downhill. But, we may have spoken too soon as the creators have just revealed that Grey’s Anatomy star and all-around rom-com queen Katherine Heigl will replace them in the upcoming eighth season.

The Emmy-winning actress, who is best known for her roles in popular films like 27 Dresses, Knocked Up and The Ugly Truth– all of which she was also executive producer – has been cast as Pearson Specter Litt’s latest partner, Samantha Wheeler. The show has described her character as a cunning new addition who has the potential to either become the firm’s “greatest ally or most powerful enemy.”

Talking about her new gig, Heigl said: “Joining Suits was the perfect organic way to not only collaborate with an EP, I admire deeply, but to also become part of a show and cast that I am an immense fan of.

“I have watched Suits from the very beginning and feel incredibly lucky to be the newest member of the Pearson Specter Litt family.”

Heigl will join Suits regulars Gabriel Macht, Sarah Rafferty, Rick Hoffman, and fellow newcomer Dulé Hill. It was confirmed earlier this week that Meghan Markle and Patrick J. Adams would exit the show at the end of season 7, which returns on US TV screens on 28 March. The new season starring Heigl will air sometime next year.
