At Rocking the Daisies we had the honour of getting to know Youngsta CPT a little better. This chart-topping, raw rapping and lyrical artist gives us, yet again, a deeper look into who he is. Cape Town native Youngsta CPT has never wavered from keeping the message of the Capetonian youth at the core of his music. Even with his very Cape Town focused sound the rapper has been able to reach a wide variety of people. As both a person and an artist, Youngsta shares his opinion on everything. Find out more about him here:
What would you say is your best attribute, and why?
I always like to see the brighter and the humorous side of life, I don’t like to take life too seriously. I find that if you expect too much from life you are constantly setting yourself up for disappointment.
Who or what inspires you and your music?
Living life and experiencing things- going through the ups and the downs, because sometimes the downs actually make for the best music. People relate more to real life experiences.
What’s your idea of a perfect date?
Staying in, watching a good movie with some popcorn and snacks. Keeping it old school!
What’s your favourite drink?
I don’t drink alcohol but I LOVE Jive in the apple snap flavour.
What fills the spot at the top of your dream destination list?
Do you have any regrets when it comes to past relationships?
Of course I have regrets, but at the same time the regrets that I have, I understand why I have them. The one mistake I made is that I’m overly dedicated and committed to my music and it will always come first. I just want to make good music and if that’s what comes with it then she will just have to accept it.
Who is your style icon?
My style icon is my mother! I owe her everything, I have a song called ‘Takkies’ and in it, it says “my mother had Nikes and Fila for fashion”, so if you think about it, those two brands have made a big comeback in todays fashion but she’s been wearing it since way before!
