Kim Kardashian covered her naked body in glitter for her new KKW Beauty launch

Kim Kardashian probably doesn’t need an ad campaign to sell lipstick. She’s got 104 million followers, an iPhone, and the cult of  KUWTK led by a PR machine called Kris Jenner. Kim can host a private  baby shower, Snapchat a few famous people looking at her new KKW beauty products, and cash in the receipts to the tune of R137 million sales in a single day.

But the success of KKW Beauty thus far has been no accident. Taking cues from Kylie Jenner’s makeup empire, Kim’s been pushing the promotion of her makeup and fragrance lines hard. But where Kylie’s fanbase lives only on social media, Kim’s been promoting her business through surprisingly traditional means outside of her Instagram reach. She’s made appearances on  Ellen and  James CordenJennifer Lawrence interviewed her on  Jimmy Kimmel Live because, again, Kris Jenner’s brilliant like that.

And, yet, sometimes there’s no more powerful sales tactic than getting naked and covering yourself in glitter. Her latest photoshoot has got all the makings of a headline: the grey hair, the glitter, the KiraKira, the nakedness. No one does an artful nude like Kim, so it should be unsurprising that the photo is — unquestionably —  sick. Sure, it’s no naked climbing in a tree photo, but it really does have a way of making you want that metallic lipgloss and eyeshadow, which is what she’s selling, by the way.

Again, in breaking with Kylie, Kim’s version of a lip kit includes five glitter lip glosses accompanied by five coordinating loose shimmer pigment powders. Each pair comes in metallic shades of silver, gold, rose gold, copper, and bronze. She hasn’t released much information — other than the fact that they’re launching on December 1 — so rest assured they’ll be here in time should you want to copy Kim’s ad for your Christmas card this year.
