Blumhouse, the producers of the successful Split and Get Out, have come out with an original and inventive rewinding thriller in Happy Death Day, in which a college student (Jessica Rothe) relives the day of her murder, again and again – with both its unexceptional details and terrifying end – until she discovers her killer’s identity. Critics have described Happy Death Day as a darkly humorous sci-fi spin on slasher conventions, with added edge courtesy of a star-making performance from Jessica Rothe.
