Stop the press! Beyoncé just dropped a surprise remix of J Balvin’s ‘Mi Gente’

Queen of slay,  Beyoncé, had a little surprise in store for her fans this week. The new mumma of twins has dropped her first song since stepping away from the limelight to gloriously welcome  Rumi and Sir Carter into the world. And well, the song might not be exactly hers, but of course, it made our day.

Bey released a remix of this summer’s hit ‘Mi Gente’, by Colombian artist J Balvin and French DJ Willy William. The track features Beyoncé (pulling a Justin Bieber) singing in Spanish. And it’s really good.

Aside from being a great track, the reason behind the remix is way more important than the song itself. Beyoncé will donate all proceeds to the victims of hurricanes Irma and Maria. She broke the news on her Instagram, sharing photos of a Caribbean themed photoshoot linked to her website’s hurricane relief page. Bey captioned the shots:

“I am donating my proceeds from this song to hurricane relief charities for Puerto Rico, Mexico and the other affected Caribbean islands. To help go to  Beyonce.com/reliefefforts.”

This is not the first time Beyoncé made a big gesture to help those in distress. After Hurricane Harvey severely affected her home city of Houston, she took to action: “I am working closely with my team at BeyGOOD as well as my pastor (Rudy Rasmus at St. John’s in downtown Houston) to implement a plan to help as many as we can.”

This woman is amazing. Now go  download her song to help those in Central America – thank you.
