Tuesday’s Saint Laurent show in Paris marked Anthony Vaccarello’s third season at the helm of the iconic French fashion house. The collection was typical of Saint Laurent’s rock chick sensibility, mixed with airy shirts, desert shorts and beautiful, albeit unexpected, lace and embroidery. Vaccarello’s statement boots were back with a twist (you’ll seriously love these), while his baby doll dresses came with extra drama.
Here are seven things we’re all talking about from the Saint Laurent show, from the set to the models and the trends we’re taking home with us…
The model of the moment walked
There’s no question that this is Kaia Gerber‘s season, so we weren’t surprised that the model was chosen to be part of the Parisian show. For her second look, Kaia wore a sequinned sculptured dress with collarbone-grazing earrings and those signature 10 denier tights. Gorgeous!
The new trophy boot
For autumn winter Vaccarello offered us his glitter slouch boots, but for summer they’re feathered. Again, you have to question the practicality of such a creation (tangling will be rife and you can think again if you want to take them on the dog walk), but who really cares when you look this fabulous? The boots, made from marabou feathers, came in variations of black, white and electric blue.
The noughties revival
This butterfly adorned halter-neck top was a nod to the noughties. The tiny top would have been snapped up by Paris Hilton in an instant back in the day.
The Saint Laurent bride
Here’s Saint Laurent’s version of bridal wear. Enough said.
The Big Bird dresses
The final quarter of the show saw those marabou feathers make a return in the form of huge Big Bird-style dresses that require at least a metre radius at all times. We give it a month before Rihanna rocks up in one of these.
The magical setting
The Eiffel Tower stood as the backdrop to the show and glittered over the runway. Truly stunning!
The romantic leather
One of the standout looks was modelled by Anja Rubik: a reverse scalloped edge leather mini skirt and studded leather puffball top. It came in the reigning colour of the moment, red, and was the power look of the show.
