Miley Cyrus says she doesn’t “envision marriage” with Liam Hemsworth yet

Though Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth seem happier than ever — at least, from what we can tell by their adorable Instagram selfies together — don’t expect them to walk down the aisle anytime soon.

In a new interview with The Sun on Sunday, Miley explained, “I don’t envision marriage. I’m 24. I hope to get to live a little bit more. I have too much living to do.” The Daily Mail also reports that the singer and The Voice host echoed her own song “Malibu” when she added, “Three years ago, if you’d asked me if I’d be here, this happy with this man, I’d have been stunned. I’m just riding this out. In some relationships, you lose yourself by being with someone else. Actually, it made me find myself more. I have no idea what the next three years will bring, but if it’s possible to get even happier, I’ll take it.”

Miley and Liam have been back together since January of 2016, after breaking up in 2013. They also resumed their engagement in the time since then, and Miley says she wears the ring Liam gave her for a special reason: “This is really weird because this is like, real jewelry and most of my jewelry is made out of gummy bears and cotton candy, and they don’t look that good together ’cause they kind of mix up,” she explained to Ellen DeGeneres in October 2016. “So sometimes I like replace it with an actual unicorn or a Looney Tune. And he’s kind of like what’s going on? I am like, ‘This isn’t really my aesthetic, but I’ll wear it because you love me.'”

The singer also told The Sun on Sunday about the growth she experienced while she and Liam spent time apart. “I didn’t know [we’d get back together],” she explained. “But I had something in my heart, it never felt like it was really over. We kept a great friendship really private. It’s good for people to have that space to grow individually. Otherwise when you’re with someone from 16 until 24, you grow into the same person.”

So no, you shouldn’t expect a save-the-date in the mail anytime soon. But that doesn’t mean their relationship is anything less than rock-solid, either. In fact, the fact that #Miam is taking things at their own pace is a sign that they’re stronger than ever.
