Emma Stone is embarrassed she looks naked in the photo she took with Hillary Clinton

Emma Stone appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert last night and was delightfully surprised to find out Hillary Clinton was also a guest. So naturally, the actress wanted to take advantage of the coincidence and pose for a photo with Clinton. Pretty cool, right? Stone thought so too, but then she was understandably horrified to find out she suffered a wardrobe malfunction of sorts in the picture.

OK, it wasn’t a wardrobe malfunction so much as it was an unfortunate hand placement. In their photo, Clinton and Stone hold up T-shirts with tennis champion Billie Jean King’s face on it, but the level at which Stone lifts hers makes her appear naked. For real. In fact, if you didn’t know this context, you’d 100 percent think Stone was hanging out with Clinton completely in the buff.

“Can I also point something out beyond this very cool photo?” Stone told host Stephen Colbert. “I get a chance to meet Hillary Clinton, which is unfathomable and incredible, and I look like I’m nude. Really? You had one shot. Whatever.”

Stone was a vocal Clinton supporter during the 2016 presidential election. A few weeks before November 8, she and several other celebrities were photographed wearing pussybow blouses as a show of solidarity for their candidate.

Battle of the Sexes, Stone’s new film about the historic tennis match between Billie Jean King (Stone) and Bobby Riggs (Steve Carell) eerily mirrors the election we experienced last fall. If you’re unfamiliar, Riggs, an overt sexist, challenged King to a tennis match because he thought there was no way a woman could beat him. She did, and gender equality in sports changed as a result.

“The parallels in this movie are pretty fascinating,” Stone told Out magazine. “We began shooting in the spring of 2016, when there was still a lot of hope in the air, and it was very interesting to see this guy—this narcissistic, self-focused, constantly-stirring-the-pot kind of guy—against this incredible, qualified woman, and at the same time be playing Billie Jean, with Steve [Carell] playing Bobby Riggs.”

Battle of the Sexes hits theaters Friday, September 22.
