The unused clip is from the famous black tie gala event in the movie but rather than ending on its original bad note, it shows Andy preventing her boss’s husband from causing a major scene and embarrassing her in front of Irv Ravitz, the CEO of the media company which owns Runway. In return, Miranda drops her frosty persona for a split second and mouths the words “thank you” to Andy.

Have a look…

I’m just seeing this deleted scene from The Devil Wears Prada for the first time, and honestly it changed the whole movie for me pic.twitter.com/6Zkr6UxHQO

GAME. CHANGER.

For most The Devil Wears Prada fans, the scene is a total curveball and adds a whole new layer to Miranda’s personality. The Miranda we know and love simply does not have the words “thank you” in her vocabulary. And she’s certainly not made vulnerable by her drunk husband. So are we glad they kept the scene out? Twitter certainly thinks so…

wow, i have never been so thankful a scene was cut from a movie. thank you devil wears prada gods 🙌🏽

Miranda’s character was already softened compared to the book. This would have been a total departure on every conceivable level.

Makes Miranda vulnerable (to stupid hubby) which is not her persona. So i c y they left it out.

Looks like the directors made the right decision 👏
