In cinemas now: Pop Lock ‘n Roll

Exciting new local film, Pop Lock ’n Roll, is a tale about finding the strength to dance again, despite life and its unexpected, sometimes heart-breaking curveballs. Led by avid hip-hop dancer Maurice Paige, the cast also includes singer-songwriter and actress Yasirah Bhelz, with director Ziggy Hofmeyr at the helm, and production by Mayenzeke Baza, founder of Mandela Bay Pictures.

At the centre of the story is Raps (Maurice Paige), an ambitious street-style, hip-hop dancer from a poor neighbourhood, who believes that money is everything. After a lucky break, he works his way up the entertainment ladder as a professional entertainer. But when he falls in love with Queen (Yasirah Bhelz), the beautiful Brazilian wife of the gangster-come-producer who’s making his career, and a star in her own right, he discovers that he may have to risk the most important thing in his life to find true happiness.

With heart-stopping moves accompanied by some of South Africa’s best-produced hip-hop music, this is one dance flick you don’t want to miss out on! Pop, Lock ’n Roll opens in cinemas on Friday so put on your dancing shoes and book your tickets now!
