People are leaving the snake emoji on Perrie Edward’s Instagram for a REALLY surprising reason

Perrie Edwards and her boyfriend, soccer player Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, are two distinct individuals with their own careers. But it seems that isn’t stopping fans from blaming the Little Mix singer for Alex’s impending move to a new team.

Just Jared reports that Arsenal fans have been leaving snake emoji and threatening messages on Perrie’s Instagram. On Monday, news broke that Alex was going to transfer from the soccer team to Chelsea, another UK team. (The  Metro later reported that a move to Liverpool could also be in the works.) And while it’s understandable that fans would be upset to lose one of their players, taking it out on his girlfriend is not the best move.

Thankfully, other fans have chimed in on Perrie’s comments, urging her to ignore the snakes and other hurtful messages. “Just because she is Alex’s girlfriend, it doesn’t mean you can send hate to her for a decision that Alex makes,” one fan wrote. Others are telling her to stay strong, and looking from the series of carefree beach photos she’s been posting lately, she’s doing just that.
