Hang onto your heartstrings, because they’re about to get tugged.
In a Heartbeat is a four-minute passion project from computer animation students Esteban Bravo and Beth David. It’s had its internet debut and now the public is crushing. Hard. The animated short film, which has already had 14 million views (and counting) on YouTube alone, shares the sweet story of love at first sight. Focusing on a closeted young boy, the film tells the tale of how he risks being outed by his own heart after it pops out of his chest to chase down the boy of his dreams.
Esteban and Beth describe In a Heartbeat as the kind of film they wished they had seen growing up. While the original story took place between a boy and a girl, it was only when the crush became same-gender that the idea started to take form and resonate. People are praising the film, calling it “the purest thing” they’ve ever seen, with one Twitter user even declaring it the thing that “saved 2017”. Best you watch it as soon as you can!
