Beyoncé is getting mommy-shamed for this photo, and the internet needs to relax

Beyoncé enjoyed some well-deserved R&R over the weekend, stepping out with husband Jay-Z for a little sushi date in Los Angeles. It looks like the two had an amazing time; Bey even shared pictures of herself and Jay sipping on what looks like red wine to Instagram. This is a completely normal activity for two grown-ass adults, right? There’s literally nothing to see here. Bey and Jay just welcomed twins, for crying out loud; they’re completely allowed to have an evening just for themselves.

But, of course, the Internet had an issue with Beyoncé’s perfectly harmless night on the town.  The Huffington Post reports mommy-shamers flooded the comments section of the photo, below, debating whether or not Beyoncé’ is breastfeeding her two new babies, Rumi and Sir Carter.

Several people assumed the  Lemonade singer is breastfeeding and promptly criticized her for drinking alcohol.

“You feed your children with your breast why do you drink?!” one person commented. “Beyoncé please don’t be drinking too much,” wrote someone else.

And it gets worse: Another group of mommy-shamers figured Beyoncé isn’t breastfeeding and slammed her for giving Rumi and Sir formula too early. “Guess she’s not breast feeding,” one user said. (If this doesn’t prove celebrities can’t win, then what does?)

Frankly, all this discussion about Beyoncé’s breastfeeding habits is invasive and wrong. We don’t know Beyoncé—it’s unfair to make assumptions about her based on one photo. In fact, it’s unfair to make assumptions about her at all. How Bey feeds her children is, truthfully, not our concern. She knows what’s best for Rumi and Sir more than anyone else. End of story.

This BeyHive member’s comment perfectly sums up our defence: “No one’s business what she drinks or what the babies drink from.” Damn straight.
