Minnie Dlamini says “I do” in style!

TV presenter Minnie Dlamini and her partner Quinton Jones made their union official this weekend, as they wedded in bliss on a sunny Saturday afternoon at Minnie’s family home in Glenhills, north of Durban.

The traditional Zulu ceremony began with an umbeso, marking of the start of the occasion and the exchanging of gifts. As was customary, Quinton’s family handed over gifts to thank the bride’s family for the giving of their daughter, while Minnie’s family happily welcomed her groom into the fold.

On such a joyful occasion, no-one looked more radiant than the bride herself, resplendent in a beaded gown and matching traditional Zulu hat, or isicholo, with bright red lips to complement her look.

A veritable who’s who of South African society, the guest list featured familiar VIP names such as Jessica Nkosi, Basetsana Kumalo, Anele Mdoda, Zakes Bantwini, Nandi Madida, Criselda Dudumashe, Jimmy Tau, and Unathi Msengana, all of whom were in attendance to pay their respects to the happy couple.

Of course no star-studded event would be complete without strict security measures, and Minnie’s wedding took privacy up a notch with special wristbands for guests, controlled access to the venue, and restrictions on pictures and videos during the ceremony. And with 20 security guards on site to prohibit gatecrashers from entering, it seemed as if every detail had been taken care of.

If you missed the ceremony (as most of us did) Minnie Dlamini’s tweet the following day says it all:

“I’m honestly the happiest human alive right now; being around so much love is humbling.” And if it’s actual footage you’re after, you’ll be glad to know that Minnie and Quinton have been in talks with a local broadcaster to air their wedding ceremony later this year – so keep a watchful eye out!
