While NYE in Joburg would be lit anyway, when you add Solange to the mix things are guaranteed to be kicked up a notch.
Under what theme is Solange performing at Afropunk?
Afropunk 2017 will be ringing in the new year with a killer theme: We The People. With host cities across the globe, from Paris to Brooklyn, Afropunk is famous for its focus on diversity and multiculturalism. The festival manifesto reads:
“We, the people built this land. Our flesh and blood is present in its buildings, its roads and its bridges. Our souls are its spiritual cornerstone. Our culture is its foundation. Our being nourishes this land – as our ancestors’ beings nourished it before us – yet the land has not always reimbursed us. We, the people recognize the bulls**t of the powerful. The inadequacies they’ve paid forward to a future age are appearing over the horizon.”
