4 Out-of-this-world moments from Chanel’s AW 17 show 🚀

Ah, Chanel. The Paris-based show is always a visual spectacle which closes fashion month on a high. Incredible clothes, A-list models and innovative sets are always a staple, and Karl Lagerfeld’s autumn winter 2017 offering, which featured a rocket in the centre of the set, followed suit (and maybe even surpassed it)… did we mention THERE WAS A ROCKET?

Lagerfeld is known for his boundary-pushing concepts and set designs – remember his brasserie, supermarket and feminist riot? – and his autumn winter offering in Paris today was certainly no different.

The show, aptly named ‘Chanel Ground Control’, was held in the Grand Palais, no doubt the only venue large enough to accommodate Lagerfeld’s centrepiece: a rocket, which just about fit under the venue’s 150 feet dome roof. Just wait until you see what happened for the finale…

Here all the best moments from the show:

1 Gigi, Bella and Kendall walked

The ‘It’ models of the moments strutted their stuff for the show.

2 Glitter boots are definitely a thing

We first saw them at Saint Laurent, and Chanel has just confirmed they’re going to be big for autumn winter. REJOICE.

3 The guests were predictably A-list

Cara Delevingne, Lily Rose-Depp, Pharrell and Anna Wintour were in attendance.

4 The finale.

You thought it was just a prop rocket, didn’t you? For the finale of the show, the rocket had ‘lift off’, complete with faux sparks and smoke.

Lagerfeld deserves an award for this, surely?
