Guess which two stars are reuniting again in a new movie

Viola Davis is to star with Julia Roberts in new movie Small Great Things.

The 51-year-old actress – who last weekend won the Screen Actors Guild award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role – is to team up with Oscar winner Julia, 49, in the adaptation of Jodi Picoult’s novel Small Great Things.

The 2016 book – a New York Times bestseller – deals with race relations in modern America and follows the story of Ruth Jefferson, a labour and delivery nurse at a Connecticut hospital with 20 years’ experience who is told not to perform check-ups on the newborn baby of a couple who are both white supremacists.

When the baby unexpectedly goes into cardiac arrest and Ruth is the only nurse present she is left with a dilemma as to what to do which leads to significant repercussions for all parties involved and a legal battle.

At present, the film is at the early stages of development and has no director or writer attached, although La La Land producer Marc Platt is developing the project for his company Marc Platt Productions and Amblin Partners.

Davis is one of the favourites to win the Best Supporting Actress gong at the upcoming Academy Awards for her depiction of Rose Lee Maxson in Fences, which also stars Denzel Washington and Stephen McKinley Henderson.
