A night at the Opera

If you love the arts you’ll be happy to know that award-winning director Marthinus Basson is launching the Cape Town Opera’s 2017 season with a contemporary take on Verdi’s Rigoletto that places themes of power, money, misogyny and prejudice in an African context. See these performances at the Artscape on the 11, 14, 16 and 18 February. Tickets available at Computicket.

The Cape Town Motor Show is making its way to GrandWest Grand Arena and Sun Exhibits. Feast your eyes and ears on modified cars and trucks, exhilarating sound and pulse race drifting from 10am to 6pm on the 27 to 29 January. Tickets are available at Computicket at R60 for children aged and pensioners, and R100 for adults.

Welcoming the weekend

One of Cape Town’s newest hot spots to the gastropub scene, Nomad Bistro & Bar will be keeping you entertained with the launch of three weekly events. Thursdays are Live at Nomad evenings featuring local artists and bands. Friday Feels has DJ’s playing a mix of funk, indie-rock, hip-hop and urban music with free entry. Saturday nights are for house music between 9pm and 1am. Find Nomad Bistro & Bar at 33 Waterkant Street in the CBD.
