Lira records song for Disney film

The multiplatinum-selling singer-songwriter Lira has yet another musical accolade to add to her ever-growing list.

Just a few days short of its SA release on 2 December, it’s been revealed that Lira recorded her own version of ‘How far I’ll go’, the end-credit song featured in Disney’s new animated fantasy film  Moana.

“‘How far I’ll go’ beautifully encapsulates the elements of  Moana that resonate with me, that you should break away from conformity, be bold and go out and discover what makes you uniquely you,” says Lira. “It’s a real honour to be involved! Also, the fact that Disney is able to incorporate and feature African voices in projects such as this is truly exciting.”

What makes the achievement even more exceptional is that the song is written by Lin-Manuel Miranda, the Tony-, Emmy- and Grammy-winning lyricist/composer of the Broadway hit Hamilton.

Congrats, Lira! We love to see you shine.

Lira’s version of ’How far I’ll go’ will be available to purchase on the SA iTunes Store from 9 December.
