GLAMmie jammies!

Prepare for the most glamorous festive season you’ve ever had. Luxury pyjama brand Sleeper has launched their annual Christmas collection – and we’re in love! This year’s collection consists of a “house suit”: a gorgeous wrap jacket with cropped slim-leg pants. They come in a variety of colours and make the perfect gift. You can purchase your set on their website, www.the-sleeper.com/en/.

Summer lovin’

The Wavescape Festival is back and celebrating it’s 13th year this summer! Presented by Pick n Pay, it has quickly grown into one of Cape Town’s premier attractions, offering plenty of fun activities for the season. Between 21 November and 11 December, you’ll get to watch up to 26 ocean and surf films on Clifton 4th beach, all in the name of ocean conservation and sustainable seafood awareness. There’s plenty more happening, including The Wavescape Art Board Project and a workshop for adventure filmmakers, so head over to wavescapefestival.com for all the information. Tickets available at webtickets.co.za.

Feast in style

The annual Eat Out Mercedes-Benz Restaurant Awards are back this November in celebration of the industry’s best local restaurants. The Sunday lunch experience is a feast for the senses and includes a six-course menu designed by some of the country’s top chefs in collaboration with Pete Goffe-Wood, paired with excellent wines and top-class entertainment. The awards take place at the Grand Arena at Grand West in Cape Town on 20 November. For more information, visit eatout.co.za.

Rock it out

After the successful launch of their album What I Say last month, the Capetonian band Stone Jets continue to make waves across the local music scene. And their incredibly unique afro pop rock sound is planning to rock you out of the rest of 2016, with a number of performances still lined-up. See their official website for show dates.

Mirror, mirror…

Ray-Ban brings a pop of vibrant colours to the sunglass game this summer with the release of a revolutionary lens, Chromance! The new lenses feature a unique composition of high contrast pigments, advanced anti-reflective treatments and superior polar filters that literally fine-tunes light, heightening contrasts, colours and contours – all on the already fashionable designs we love!

A local take on taste in Italia

Rosto – inspired by Italy’s Girarrosto shops – has opened its doors in Linden, Joburg and is tapping into South Africa’s on-going love affair with chicken. The new eatery’s focus is on free range, ethically reared chicken that is cooked on-site in the wood-fired rotisserie oven. Rosto also offers a number of street food dishes, including panelle (Sicilian chickpea fries) and traditional focaccia, to name a few. Rosto is located at 69 7th Street, Linden. You can learn more at eatrosto.com.

Bold and beautiful brows

Exciting news, Pretoria! The Brow Bar, South Africa’s first-ever franchised and patented, no-appointment, Express Brow and Lash bar is heading to the capital city! All in the name of better brows for everyone, The Brow Bar offers a range of services to both women and men (so no more excuses for the men in your life to have bad brows!). The Brow Bar opens in Menlyn Mall in Pretoria on 24 November.

Comfort and simplicity

Australian fashion brand favourite Cotton On is expanding into lifestyle, introducing a brand new range of homeware with the launch of CO:HOME. The range, consisting of three main categories, namely Living, Gifting and Summer Entertaining, includes a modern and fresh selection of cushions, throws, vases, Turkish towels, bowls and jugs. CO:HOME is available in stores now!

There was a Cabaret…

The Alexander Upstairs Theatre in Cape Town presents ‘An Evening with Lola’ on 28, 29 and 30 November. Written by Iman Isaacs and Bianca Flanders and starring Bianca Flanders as Lola, the 60-minute performance follows the musical stylings of the eccentric diva Lola on her quest to find fame, fortune and a new, hopefully life-defining, role. Book your tickets at alexanderbar.co.za.

Tasty treats to tantalise

Belgian brothers Camren and Marco Vandeput are bringing authentic dough based Belgian Liege waffles (invented over 200 years ago) to South Africa! After extensive research and experimentation, the brothers perfected their grandmother’s waffle recipe using genuine Belgian Pearl Sugar, which she would have used over a 100 years ago, to create the most traditional and delicious treats. VAN DE WAFFLE opens their first store at The Zone @ Rosebank on 2 December. Visit vandewaffle.co.za to find out more.
