Sun International takes The Met’s reins
It began as The Metropolitan Mile in 1898, was named one of the “big three” races in SA in the ’60s and came to life for South Africans outside the racing circle in 1978 when J&B came on board. Now, The Met is moving forward, with Sun International at its helm as the prestigious horse race’s new title sponsor and iconic champagne house GH Mumm joining the celebrations next year. Taking place on the last Sunday of every January, The Sun Met Celebrated with Mumm isn’t just a horse racing event, it’s a celebration of style and glamour loved by celebs, sports fans and fashionistas alike.
The new partnership announcement was made on Wednesday at Cape Town’s glitzy Table Bay Hotel, with the likes of Lee-Ann Liebenberg and Leigh-Anne Williams in attendance. Slide through the gallery below to see more photographs from the fabulous launch, and get ready for next year’s The Sun Met Celebrated with Mumm on 28 January 2017 at Kenilworth Racecourse in Cape Town. See you there!
