Celebs are donating their denims for charity

Kate Moss has donated her jeans for charity.

The 42-year-old supermodel – who was scouted at the young age of 14 – has joined a number of famous faces including ‘Spice Girls’ singer Victoria Beckham, Eva Longoria and actresses Alicia Vikander and Emma Watson to raise awareness for the International Rescue Committee’s Jeans for Refugees campaign.

The initiative will see the stars donate their denim wardrobe staples to artist Johny Dar who will transform the garments into a piece of art, which will be auctioned off online via Catawiki over the next 100 days to boost funds for the organisation.

Speaking to Vogue about the charity work, he said: “In this case, it’s not about fashion, it’s art.

“It’s an intuitive process, surfing whatever feelings were in the jeans from the celebrity who wore them, and doing my best to bring them out through the painting.”

However, the creative mastermind has revealed sourcing a number of celebrities to donate their clothing was easy.

He explained: “I believe they were convinced the same way that I was convinced myself, and how everyone else became convinced too – this is a humanitarian cause that is much grander than me and everyone involved in it.

“Everyone who is participating heard the call and answered.”

Meanwhile, Johny has revealed out of all the women who gave their jeans to help the cause, customising the Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone star’s pair of trousers was the most time consuming, although they are his favourite recreations.

He said: “Emma Watson’s … I spent the most time on her jeans!”

The modified jeans are now available to purchase online.
