Father’s Day is a day to simply be thankful for the special man in your life and Benguela on Main is offering a four-course set menu to celebrate, fine dining style on Sunday, 19 June 2016. Situated in Somerset West, on the corner of Main Road and Coronation Ave, Benguela on Main incorporates a special all-round dining experience.

The specially designed Father’s Day menu has been created with dad’s favourite memories in mind by Executive Chef, Jean Delport who has worked at a number of fine dining establishments before opening up Benguela on Main last year, October 2015. He has dazzled diners with his sophisticated approach to food and created dishes that embraces a flair of flavours and dishes that are paired with local South African wines. 

A few of the dishes found on the memorable four-course menu are dry aged beef with smoked bone marrow, celeriac and onions and an incredible set Valrhona chocolate Pudding with cognac, orange and ginger.

Benguela on Main will only be open for lunch on Father’s Day from 12:00 to 15:00 and each dad will be given a special handmade gift from the Benguela on Main team. To avoid disappointment ensure you book at R500 per person.

From 16 to 19 June, Flames restaurant presents a Father’s Day Brunch with an Italian Flair at R595 p.p and there is also the Flames Friday Brunch with an Italian Flair on 17 June at R595 p.p.

Historic Cape Dutch homestead and boutique winery in Stellenbosch, Webersburg, has a great lunch menu lined up for dads this Father’s Day, Sunday, 19 June 2016  ̶  a three-course set menu for lunch consisting of excellent cuts of meat accompanied by warming winter dishes. 

Take your dad and the family out for lunch and experience the 1693 elegant homestead submerged in history. The Webersburg SugarBosch Bistro log fire will also be blazing to keep guests warm and comfortable. The three course set menu for R380 per person will consist of main dishes such as lamb shank with mashed potato, buttered leeks and baby vegetables, Rooibos braised Springbok shank with sweet potato mash topped with bacon and white wine braised Eisbein with parsley and roast garlic mash and parmesan-roasted Brussel sprouts. Continuing the winter theme is wild mushroom soup as a starter and warm fig and butterscotch pudding for dessert. Lunch is served from 12:00 to 15:00 on Sunday.

Chef Edmore Ruzoza is rustling up hearty mussel chowder or five-spice Asian duck spring rolls for starters. Mains will be a choice between grilled AAA-grade T-bone steak served with triple baked potatoes, wokked greens and green peppercorn sauce; fresh line fish with cauliflower mash, wilted greens and cherry tomato olive jus; and lemon thyme mushroom bake with rocket, parmesan shavings and decadent truffle oil.  The finale will be Nederburg’s renowned brandy date pudding and cinnamon ice cream, or caramel chocolate fondant with mixed berry compote and vanilla ice cream.

There will be a wide selection of Nederburg wines, offered by the glass and by the bottle, including The Winemasters, Heritage Heroes, Ingenuity and Two Centuries collections. To top it off, every father will be treated to a surprise gift from Nederburg.

Surprise your dad with a culinary escape to Grande Provenc e for a Father’s Day luncheon in the heart of the Franschhoek Winelands on Sunday, 19 June 2016 or make a weekend of it if you really want to spoil him.

Executive Chef Darren Badenhorst offers the ultimate culinary indulgence with a wide range of his signature dishes for dads to feast upon. The starter selection includes the butter-poached BBQ lobster accompanied by xo quinoa sea sand, pickled kombu courgette, ponzu infused cucumber and dill gel, with sweet miron gribiche. The confit guinea fowl and salt cured duck spindle is another option to choose from, rounded off with a mixed bean ragout, vanilla parsnip, wagyu and estate Shiraz bouillon.

For mains, consider the succulent 18-hour sous-vide Karoo lamb neck, complemented with toasted pearl barley, pickled butternut, local river cress and wild sprouts. There is even a vegan option of carrot and pine nut purée with charred cauliflower gratin, baked rosa tomatoes, ice pickled radish and vineyard sorrel.

For dessert, get lost in the “chocolate forest” of 80% hazelnut pot au crème, tonka bean semifreddo, Madagascan vanilla poached shimeji mushrooms, pistachio brittle, white chocolate snow, apple moss and micro basil – a mouthful of pure delight and one of three sweet sensations to choose from.
