Want to steal the African queen look from the GJC runway? Here’s how!

Anele Ntuli from Ice modelsGert-Johan Coetzee blew us away with his Spring Summer 2016 collection, which opened SA Fashion Week last night. The audience was treated to an incredible display of textures, colour and attitude, all inspired by the ’70s.

“It is a bit eclectic and quite regal… I want women who wear these garments to feel like an African queen,” Gert-Johan explains.

Apart from the beautiful designs, what really stood out for us was the makeup! Piers Braybrooke for Rimmel, who created the catwalk look, explains, “I was inspired by an eclectic African queen, and that is what I want everyone who wears GJC to feel like.”

The look was natural, with a strong, lined eye, nude lips and bronze contouring. The models’ hair was simply swept back, or left short and natural, and adorned with “crowns” made from strands of palm fruit, to communicate Gert-Johan’s inspiration for the collection.

We got exclusive backstage footage of Piers working his makeup magic. Watch, listen and be inspired!
