Miley Cyrus partners with Marc Jacobs for charity

Miley Cyrus and Marc Jacobs have joined forces to raise funds for Planned Parenthood .

The Wrecking Ball hitmaker has partnered with the 53-year-old designer and artist Marilyn Minter to sell limited edition prints of the singer from her exclusive shoot, whilst extra images and captions supporting the company will be emblazoned over t-shirts, which will see all proceeding go towards the non-profit reproductive services organisation.

Speaking to Artsy online about the collaboration, Marilyn said; “We were trying to bridge the generation gap by involving a young star with young fans–she has 40.5 million Instagram followers. She’s [Miley’s] been famous since she was 11 and she’s a great artist, so she doesn’t care about making money –she wants to give back.”

The venture was confirmed in front of 500 women at the Planned Parenthood Spring Luncheon held at the Pierre on Thursday (14.04.16) in New York, following a large uproar in the US over the bid to cut funding to the organisation, affecting women on low income’s access to affordable birth control.

Meanwhile, the 23-year-old star – who also has her own LGBT charity Happy Hippie Foundation – took to social media to showcase a sample garment.

She wrote: “Coming soon to marcjacobs.com!! ALL proceeds go to#plannedparenthood @marilynminter@marcjacobs #standwithPP (sic).”

The star shared behind-the-scenes previews of her steamy shoot with the Louisiana-born hyper-realist photographer – who is known for her erotic and intimate work – which captured her licking a pane of steamed up glass.

Miley wrote: “This limited edition portrait by bada$$ @marilynminter is available now at Artsy.net/mileyxmarilyn !! 100% of proceeds to go #plannedparenthood #standwithPP #mileyxmarilynsupportPP (sic.)”

Whilst another read: “#mileyxmarilyn @marcjacobsshirt coming soon!! Proceeds go to#plannedparenthood by@marilynminter #standwithPP (sic).”

The portraits of the Tennessee-born singer-songwriter will be sold for $5,500 with only 50 prints on sale, whilst Marc Jacobs’ t-shirts will retail for $50.
