Day 3: The Fash Pack’s SAFW report back

We’re super excited to announce that the Sunglass Hut Fash Pack, which consists of Aqeelah Harron and Palesa Mahlaba, is covering SAFW for us! The two lovely ladies have their eyes firmly fixed on the runway and will be reporting back on all the best moments you need to know about!

Here’s what they have to say about day three of SAFW.

Isabel De Villiers

The collection:  Minimal, relaxed and leaning towards the athleisure, with simple easy-to-wear silhouettes.

The colours: Various shades of grey accented with primary yellow.

Must-haves: The perforated maxi skirt and the colour block shift dress.

Judith-Atelier

The collection: Feminine transparency with a great mix of ready-to-wear items and understated, effortless glamour.

The colours: Mints, teals and white.

Must-haves: The Grecian maxi dress.

Non-European

By Palesa Mahlaba

The collection: Easy, everyday pieces with a bohemian feel.

The colours: ’70s paisleys and florals in greys, blues and nudes.

Must-haves: The long sleeve floral maxi and a leather obi belt.

Sober

The collection: A very feminine range with ’50s ladylike influences. Perfect for a corporate woman.

The colours: Guava, coral and bright blues.

Must-haves: The cap sleeve maxi shirt dress.

African Style Story

The collection: Pretty, ready-to-wear dresses. The look was modern, fresh, bohemian and yet still held an urban feel with white caftans and classic summer dresses.

The colours: Navy, yellow and khaki looks, with a few white florals in between.

Must-haves:  The khaki green maxi and the yellow maxi dress with the printed bodice.

Loayo Art & Creations

The collection: Flowing Moroccan silhouettes in satin and chiffon fabrics which featured the designer’s own artwork.

The colours: Rich tones of green, blue, brown, yellow and red.

Must-haves:  The silky harem pants and any of the kimonos.

Urban Zulu

The collection: Flowing fabrics with Grecian-like silhouettes were ever present in this range. There was a perfect balance between prints and plain fabrics, as well as the contrast between practical and statement pieces.

The colours:  A marvellous mash-up of white, brown, black, yellow and mustard.

Must-haves: The one-shoulder crop and matching maxi skirt.

JJ Schoeman

The collection: Every chic staple you could ever want in life, from high-waisted trousers to swing skirts and naturally, a bridal gown showstopper!

The colours: All-white everything.

Must-haves:  The power suit and the flowy boobtube midi dress.

Liz Ogumbo

The collection: Liz Ogumbo did a stellar job marrying African prints and accessories with western silhouettes. The collection was fun, sexy, bold and unapologetic.

The colours: Every colour under the African sun

Must-haves: The two-piece teal set and any of the cape creations.
