#Nowtrending: Chain braids

A four-strand chain plait? Yes, you can do it!

Once you’ve mastered the basics – French and fishtail– it’s time for the big leagues. Here’s how to master the look:

1 Section into four

First, divide your hair into four sections – one from your forehead to your crown, one above each ear, and one from your crown to the nape of your neck. Drape them down your back between your fingers in your left hand.

2 Cross over

Holding all four sections between the fingers of your left hand, take the centre-left piece and cross it over all the hair all the way to the right. Hold that piece with your free right hand.

3 The twist

Grasp the two right sections with your right hand and twist the two remaining left sections once with your left hand,.

4 Now repeat

Pull the two sides apart to tighten the braid and repeat steps two and three on the alternate side (crossing the centre-right piece over to the left and twisting the two right sections). Continue and tie.
