Cindy Crawford is celebrating her 50th birthday this year by retiring from the modelling world.
Cindy, one of the original supers, started modelling when she was 17, over 30 years ago.
“I’m sure I’ll have my picture taken for 10 more years, but not as a model anymore,” she told Rhapsody Magazine. “And that’s OK. I’ve done it. I’ve worked with all these incredible photographers. What else do I need to do? I can’t keep reinventing myself. I shouldn’t have to keep proving myself. I don’t want to.”
Last month, she starred alongside Claudia Schiffer and Naomi Campbell in Balmain’s spring/summer 2016 campaign – a smouldering tribute to the original model super gang.
She is currently promoting her new book, Becoming Cindy, which through pictures documents her impressive journey from shucking corn in Illinois to becoming one of fashion’s most desirable and influential models.
Her 14-year-old daughter, Kaia Gerber, is following in her mother’s footsteps, dabbling in modeling already – posing in editorials for Vogue and fronting a campaign for Versace kids.
