Reese Witherspoon’s ‘at home’ therapy

Reese Witherspoon relaxes by reorganising her sock drawer.

The ‘Wild’ actress – who has children Ava, 16, and Deacon, 12, with ex-husband Ryan Phillippe, and three-year-old son Tennessee with spouse Jim Toth – finds tidying her home extremely theraputic, much to the bemusement of her talent agent husband.

She said: “My husband would definitely say, ‘She’s very relaxed at home.’ Hmm, I don’t cook much. I used to cook a lot; I relax a lot.

“You know what I like to do? Reorganise bookshelves and my sock drawer.

“Jim’s like, ‘What have you been doing for four hours in your closet?’ I’m like, ‘Um, reorganising my underwear?’ ”

Reese turns 40 in March but isn’t upset about getting older because she is so much more confident and “open” than she was in her twenties, and she doesn’t even mind age taking its toll on her appearance.

She told the new issue of America’s Harper’s Bazaar magazine: “I’m much more open now. In my 20s, I was scared of everything. I didn’t know what my career was.

“I didn’t know why people liked my movies. I was wary of interacting with people.

“I was 25 when ‘Legally Blonde’ came out, 26 for ‘Sweet Home Alabama’, and 29 for ‘Walk the Line’. And I was scared, really scared.

“Now I feel like a different person. It’s a great thing getting older. You are who you are; you say what you mean.

“[And if your face changes a bit?] I kind of enjoy that!”
