How to look great the morning after

Post-party beauty woes? This plan will make you look like you’ve had eight hours’ sleep.

1 Prepare for the worst

Alcohol dries out everything. To get a hydration boost from the inside out, pop a fish-oil supplement or B12-complex vitamin while you’re getting ready. You’ll look fresh and feel less fuzzy the next day.

2 Prevent puffiness

Sleep with an extra pillow. Extra height promotes lymphatic drainage and prevents fluid from accumulating. Applying a serum to skin before bed will help too.

3 Caffeinate your face

Caffeine combats inflammation and stimulates skin – a great remedy in the morning for the hangover trifecta: blotchiness, eye circles and dullness. Place warm green-tea bags over your eyes for two minutes. Repeat on the sides of the nose (a surprising inflammation spot).

4 OK, time for makeup

A corrector covers discolouration: Green nixes red. Yellow masks blue tones around your eyes.

5 Skip foundation

Caked-on makeup gives away your secret. When skin’s dehydrated, foundations won’t absorb well and powders crease. Stick to a tinted moisturiser, BB cream or CC cream.

6 Brighten your eyes

Use a beige liner along your waterline before applying mascara to create the illusion of well-rested eyes.

7 Fool ’em with highlighter

Dab a alight-reflecting highlighter on the cheekbones, along the bridge of the nose, in two dots on the middle of the forehead and blend. Add peachy cream blush and you’re ready to face the day!
