5 Tips for a healthy holiday season

The holiday season should be a joyous, happy and relaxing time. Even if you find yourself on a restricted diet or majorly changing some lifestyle habits, it needn’t lessen any of the magic and fun that the holidays can bring. 

Unfortunately, the demands of the holiday season often increase the incidence of stress and anxiety, especially when you are trying to eat healthier. The good news is that we have some sure-fire tips to ensure you enjoy the holidays while sticking to your healthy lifestyle plan. 

1 Drink water 

While always important, drinking enough clean water during party time or diet challenges can assist your body to rid itself of toxins. Start and end each day with hot water and lemon for added vitamin C and hydration support. 

2 Stay active

Exercise for a minimum of four days a week for at least 30 minutes to an hour is something that should be a habit. No matter what the time of year! Continuing your exercise during the holiday season will go a long way toward preventing weight gain. Long walks in the park with the kids and the dogs , or on the beach will do wonders for your health and your heart.

3 Eat fat

It may sound like strange advice, but good fat is fabulous for creating a balanced mood, decreased anxiety, reducing inflammation, helping with weight loss, and lessening sugar cravings. 4 Get those zzz’s  

Sleep supports your immune system and resets your hormones. Don’t skimp. 

5 Break up with gluten  

We all love gluten, but it does not love us back the way we deserved to be loved. We’ll admit that it is a tough time with all the demands put upon us, but those individuals who do break up with gluten are very happy they did. No more headaches, no more aching joints, no more tummy aches and no more crashed adrenals to name but a few. Frequently they remark how great they feel by the beginning of the New Year, instead of how terrible they typically feel at the close of the holiday season.
