4 Tips for gorgeous wedding day skin

Just when it seems you’ve got this wedding planning thing nailed, your skin does something completely new. Eek! So, what gives? And more importantly, how can you fix it – fast?! Read on for the answers.

1 Dieting

A low-carb is great for your thighs, but all that protein can really dry out your skin, leading to tight patches and a rough texture.

OK, so maybe you’re not banting and you skin is still freaking out. Well, if you’ve been following a low-fat diet you can also encounter a few skin problems! Skin needs lipids to maintain a strong, supple barrier, so cutting out fat from your diet can cause sensitivity flare-ups.

Quick fix: Drink lots of water and use a quenching serum. And make sure you include loads of ‘good fats’ into your diets (fats like almonds and avo).

2 Hormones

Did you just stop taking the Pill? If you’ve suddenly got red pimples around your mouth, nose and chin it’s because you no longer have a constant supply of artificial oestrogen. The suppresses your naturally occurring androgen ‘male’ hormones. Yes, you’ve guessed it… it does affect the skin’s sebum production and now it’s a pore-clogging bonanza on your face.

Quick fix: Clean up the congestion by cleansing your skin with a pH-balanced face wash that doesn’t strip precious oils from your skin.

3 Stress

Even if you’re a pro at remaining calm throughout the whole wedding #planning process, inside, it’s a totally different story.

When your body responds to stress, your adrenal glands release the steroid cortisol, and it can inhibit collagen production. As a result, over time, skin loses radiance and starts to look dull.

Quick fix: Reach for skincare products that are specially formulated to combat stress on skin.

4 Working out

Sweating it out at the gym? Your skin my react to exercise with ‘baby acne’. Sounds cute… but it’s not. These tiny red spots usually develop along your hairline and jaw, mainly because excess perspiration can aggravate the yeast that occurs on the skin.

Quick fix: Wash your face before and after every workout with a hypoallergenic cleanser.
