Meet our beauty (role) model

In the July issue of GLAMOUR, Flaviana Matata is the pretty model illustrating how to get happy skin in the beauty section, but her true beauty lies in her charity work.

This Tanzanian-born fashion model started the Flaviana Matata Foundation to uplift, empower and educate girls in her home country. Her motivation? The realities that 24 million girls in sub-Saharan Africa can’t afford to go to school. These same girls have one in a 22 chance of dying during childbirth and a one in six chance that one of their children will die before the age of five.

Flaviana’s foundation works in three ways to help girls achieve a brighter future:

– Through sponsor a girl-child projects, girls are provided with school fess, stationary kits and uniforms.

– With training grants that offer training and financial help to women establishing small businesses.

– By empowering community leaders with educational programmes and seminars.
