Surprise! Ryan Gosling may be joining the cast of Blade Runner 2

Ryan Gosling is reportedly in talks to star alongside Harrison Ford in the upcoming Blade Runner sequel.

The Lost River director is in negotiations to join Harrison Ford – who played Rick Deckard in the 1982 original – in the upcoming film, Variety reports.  Prisoners filmmaker Denis Villeneuve is on board to direct the sci-fi thriller for Alcon Entertainment while Ridley Scott is the executive producer. Hampton Fancher and Michael Green wrote the script for the film and the story takes place several decades after the original, which was set in a dystopian 2019 Los Angeles.

While Ford is set to reprise his original role, it’s so far unclear what part Gosling is in talks to play. The 34-year-old star will next be seen in The Nice Guys with Russell Crowe and is currently shooting The Big Short alongside Christian Bale, Brad Pitt and Steve Carrell.

Meanwhile, Gosling is also said to be in talks to reunite with his Gangster Squad and Crazy, Stupid, Love co-star Emma Stone in Damien Chazelle’s upcoming musical La La Land.
