Review: Beyoncé: Running the World by Anna Pointer

In this well-crafted biography, Beyoncé allows us a rare glimpse into her life – which she generally does a good job of keeping mum about. It all starts with a six-year-old girl wowing an audience at a talent show in Houston, Texas. From there, we embark on the diva’s journey to super stardom, learning about her family, her girl-group days before fronting Destiny’s Child, personal struggles – which include a lengthy battle with depression – and her relationship with her husband Jay-Z. The book is written by ghost writer and journalist, Anna Pointer, who immersed herself in all things Beyoncé, before penning this incredible story.
