DIY dyeing DOs and DON’Ts

So you want to skip the salon and change your shade yourself? Read our at-home hair colour guide before go for a new hue.

DO play it safe the first time you dye your hair. Try a semi-permanent colour if you’re a first-timer – it’s healthier for your hair.

DON’T attempt to go from brunette to platinum blonde at home! Rather try a few face-framing highlights, instead.

DO remove styling-product buildup before your DIY dye. Washing your hair with a clarifying shampoo before you apply your dye will help remove any chemicals that are coating your hair.

DON’T try thin highlights if your hair is seriously curly. Curly girls can pull off thinker strips (lucky!).
